**Please note: I have extended the deadline for submission. This is my fault, as I had some health problems hit me toward the end of last year and the beginning of this one. I do still intend to work on this, but things are just taking a little longer than I’d hoped. ALSO, I have updated this page with more information! Please read all of it, your answers are probably in here.**
I, like many I am sure, have felt rather helpless in light of all the news of violence, horrible laws, and everything else going on. I want to do something, help in some way, instead of sitting and doing little more than sharing Facebook posts. I can’t physically volunteer and I don’t have the money to donate directly. So, I thought, maybe I could organize an anthology, something with others who might not be able to volunteer or directly give money as a way to help the charities that are going to be needed even more in the time ahead.
But I need your help. First, I need stories! I’m looking for stories about protesting and fighting back—against unfair laws, policies, bullying, you name it. It doesn’t have to be set in the current day, though. It can be anytime, any world. All subgenres welcome. I’m aiming for 3,000 – 10,000 words, though I am open to shorter or longer, depending on the story.
Terms: All rights belong to the authors. Stories are non-exclusive and I am looking to keep them in the anthology for one year.
Stories should be on the LGBT+ spectrum and I’d prefer if they focus on same-sex relationships (bi/pan welcome–happily–as long as the final couple is same-sex). Any heat levels welcome (hot sex, no sex, and everything in between).
I’m still working on choosing the charity, based on the input from those participating. I am aiming for LGBT+ or another charity who helps the groups that are going to be targeted in the months to come (LGBT, women, POC, etc.).
Also, timeline is NOT set in stone. I don’t want to put off accepting submissions TOO long, but I AM willing to be flexible, if you have trouble getting it in by the deadline I’ve set. Contact me.
Please keep it to HEA/HFN. I want to help lift people up and give them hope and joy in this frightening time.
Standard restrictions apply: no scat, rape for titillation, pedophilia, incest, bestiality (shifters don’t count), etc. (Amazon will NOT publish any of these and the whole anthology would get pulled for them.)
I’d like to have the stories in by May 31, 2017. I don’t yet know the timeline for publication. A lot of that will depend on volunteer editors, proofreaders, etc.
I am aiming for both e-book and paperback releases (POD).
Also, I need volunteer editors. While I can edit, to a point, I do not have the skill to do a full professional edit. If any editors out there are willing to donate a bit of time to go over a charity story (or two), I’d be VERY appreciative. I’m looking for a single pass for content and line edits.
I will also need volunteer proofreaders and a formatter (since I am hopelessly clueless on the latter).
Also, if any of my narrator friends here would be willing to donate some time to record a story or two, I would be eternally grateful.
Lastly, I’ll be looking to my blogging friends for help in promoting the release and reviewing the stories so we can get the word out. We can’t send out the help if we can’t get folks to buy the anthology. 😉
